The PGCE is delivered in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) and is integrated into the CLF SCITT curriculum.

Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)

SHU are one of the biggest providers of teacher education in the UK, and are home to the Sheffield Institute of Education, a national centre of excellence for teacher education.

All central training for the PGCE is delivered from the CLF Institute in Redfield, Bristol with additional support and webinars taking place online.

Trainees complete two level 7 (masters) modules

Reflecting on Pedagogical Approaches This module explores and develops understanding of key theories of learning and teaching and effective pedagogical approaches. There is a focus on benefits of talk for learning.

Exploring Professional Development The second module develops professional knowledge in relation to a chosen improvement area, using a lesson study approach. The module develops interpersonal skills and the ability to work with other colleagues in collaborative professional development to further understanding of learners and learning.

There is no additional cost for the PGCE. We pay for the PGCE on your behalf from the Tuition Fees we receive from you.  You will have access to their online resources and support services as well as our own.

  • “I have absolutely loved being part of the CLF SCITT training programme. I came into the year not knowing what to expect and haven’t regretted my choice for a second. The support we have received from our course leaders, has been excellent. As a group of trainees, we have built such a strong community and I will miss training with everyone.”
